OUR STORY

A small idea with a big impact

ReplaySportsNetwork began with a simple realisation: children were missing out on sport not because they lacked talent or interest, but because they lacked the right kit. At the same time, thousands of families were quietly throwing away outgrown football boots that still had plenty of life left in them.

Two Problems

One solution

A circular Idea that just made sense.

We are a community‑focused, not‑for‑profit organisation dedicated to removing barriers to sport and reducing environmental waste. We believe every child should have the chance to play, feel included and take part with confidence - regardless of family income, background or circumstance.

Seeing the scale of the issue

As we looked closer, the numbers were staggering. Every year in the UK, 13 million pairs of football boots go to landfill. Most are barely worn. Many are expensive to replace. And for families already under pressure, buying new boots every time a child grows is simply not possible.

We realised this wasn’t just a waste problem - it was a participation problem.

Turning frustration into action

What started as a conversation became a plan: collect outgrown boots, refurbish them, and get them back to children who need them.

No cost. No stigma. No waste.

Just community helping community.

Building a circular model

We’re at the very beginning of creating a simple, sustainable system that keeps football boots in play and out of landfill.

Working with our first school and early community partners, we’re developing a model where:

  • Boots are donated locally
  • refurbished with care
  • redistributed to children and young people
  • and returned again when they’re outgrown

It’s the start of a circular economy for football - practical, positive and community‑powered.

Growing a movement

ReplaySportsNetwork is still in its early days, but the response so far has shown us how much this work is needed.

Our first school session confirmed what we believed: families want to donate, children want to play, and communities want to reduce waste. The pupils were genuinely engaged, especially as the session connected naturally with what they’d been learning about sustainability in class.

Seeing their enthusiasm reinforced our belief that young people understand the importance of reuse - and want to be part of the solution.

We’re now building partnerships, expanding our collection network and laying the foundations for a wider mission:

to remove barriers to sport and reduce environmental waste, one pair of boots at a time.

This is the beginning of something much bigger - and we’re excited to grow it with our community.

A message from the founders

  • ReplaySportsNetwork began with a simple belief: every child should have the chance to play, and no pair of football boots should end up in landfill when they still have life left in them.

We’re right at the start of this journey - a small team with a big purpose. Our first school session showed us exactly what we hoped to see: families willing to donate, children excited to take part, and a community ready to support something positive.

  • We know we’re only at the beginning, but that’s what makes this moment so important. Every collection point we set up, every pair of boots we save, every child who steps onto the pitch because of this work - it all adds up.

Our commitment is simple: to build a circular, community‑powered model that removes barriers to sport and reduces environmental waste, one pair of boots at a time.
